About our connection to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation:
A major portion of VCP activities are funded by a multi-year grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and administered by the Leopold Center at Iowa State University. The grant is part of Kellogg's Food and Society Initiative that began in 2001. The initiative is inspired by a vision of a future food system that provides for all Americans safe and nutritious foods grown in a manner that protects the environment, promotes health, and brings economic development to both rural and urban communities.
VCP is one of 42 current Food and Society projects, and one of eight at higher education institutions. Projects that are part of Kellogg's Higher Education-Community Partnership are designed to enhance the capacity of universities and colleges to work with nonprofit, government, community-based and private sector partners on critical food systems issues with local relevance.
